CCFC Premier 1 Sat. Senior Team – Season Review

The 2024/25 season was a campaign of real progress and pride for Castleknock Celtic’s Premier 1 Saturday Senior team – a year marked by many highs and just a few lows. The team gelled superbly throughout the season, thanks to the strong backbone of experienced players and the impressive integration of talented younger lads stepping up. That blend proved to be key to the cohesion and spirit that carried us through.

One of the standout achievements was our run to the Last 16 of the Leinster Junior Cup, a run that saw us knock out several teams playing divisions above us – a true testament to our character, quality, and belief. Week after week, the players left everything on the pitch, and it showed.

Our league campaign was another positive chapter, finishing third in Premier 1 – securing our second promotion in three seasons. Although we narrowly missed out on the title, this finish is a massive achievement and reflects the upward trajectory the squad is on. None of this would have been possible without the calm and inspiring leadership of captain Barry Linnane, whose influence on and off the pitch continues to be vital.

The dedication and commitment of managers John O’Neill and Richie Coakley were second to none. The lads love playing for them – the trust, energy, and unity they’ve built within the group are something special and can’t be overstated.

Looking ahead, the team is already buzzing for pre-season and ready to give Premier Saturday a proper go next year. The goal is simple: stay competitive and push on again. All in all, it’s been a hugely successful season, and the future looks bright for Castleknock Celtic.
